Brian Cho is a passionate piano teacher and lifelong student of classical music with decades of experience studying, performing, and refining his craft. A California native, Brian has lived in Irvine with his wife for more than 15 years. His love for classical piano began in middle school under the guidance of his mother, who is also classically trained. Throughout his musical journey, Brian has studied with instructors connected to prestigious institutions such as Juilliard, the Russian school of classical piano, and internationally trained professional pianists, including renowned pianist Rufus Choi.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University, Northridge and has extensive experience teaching students of various ages and skill levels. He has also taught at multiple respected piano studios throughout South Orange County. His teaching focuses on building strong classical foundations in technique, music theory, score reading, interpretation, and musical expression. He works with students preparing for examinations, competitions, auditions, recitals, and other performance opportunities, while also welcoming students who simply want to enjoy and explore piano.
Brian combines the discipline and structure of traditional classical training with a personalized approach tailored to each student’s goals, personality, and learning style. He emphasizes effective practice habits, organization, concentration, goal setting, and developing lifelong discipline through music. He also values communication and collaboration with parents when appropriate, helping families support consistent progress at home. Brian believes that learning piano goes beyond playing the correct notes—it develops patience, focus, confidence, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong appreciation for music. His goal is to create a supportive yet high-standard learning environment where every student can grow both musically and personally.
