My Teaching Philosophy
I started learning piano at the age of seven. One day, a classmate came over to my home to work on a school project. She asked if I could teach her a little bit of piano, and of course, I excitedly agreed. I dug out my old beginner books and showed her the first notes on the keyboard. Within minutes, she was playing a simple version of Mary Had a Little Lamb. That moment was so rewarding that I knew teaching piano was something I wanted to do in the future.
After earning my Level 10 certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music, I went on to complete the Elementary Piano Teacher designation and became a certified RCM teacher. I began teaching piano in my local community before taking a break to pursue my dream of traveling the world as a flight attendant.
After starting my own family and moving from Toronto to California, I found my way back to my true passion—teaching. Today, I am proud to be the owner of Étude School of Music, where I share the joy of piano with students of all ages.
